![]() Things really got FAT when the 26x4.8” tire size became popular, and after a short period of time, it seemed like this flotation monster would become the new standard for fatbikes. ![]() As fatbikes continued to push the limits of what was rideable, we saw those tires continue to widen, with 3.7”, 3.8” and 4.0” tires hitting the market in short order. Back in the mid 2000’s when fatbikes first started being spotted in mainstream locations, there was no doubt that their 26x3.5” tires offered HUGE traction and flotation advantages over the “standard” 2.0-2.5” tires being rocked on a mix of 26”, 27.5” and 29” wheels.
